Week 14:About FMP thesis

This week’s paper
The advice given by my teacher is that it is important to establish a question that can be answered by a viable finding that is supported by appropriate sources.
So I may need to identify some specific questions to tell, similar to how important are personality and story? Why are these two aspects important to characterisation and what is the potential impact of automatic expression generation technology on the development of character design? How might they provide more creativity and create more depth to characters? And so on and so forth with questions like
So I need to refine my thesis further

Week 8: about FMP thesis

The title I’m currently thinking of is roughly the Art and Science of 3D Character Design: From Character Intrinsics to Technical Innovation.
I’ve raised a few questions that can be discussed and how to dive into the smaller issues under the theme.

  1. Character design is not only about visual representation, but also about conveying the personality and story of the character. How important are personality and story in character design? Why are these two aspects important to characterisation and audience/player connection?
    What do you see as the potential impact of auto-generated expression technology on the development of character design? How might it change the creative process and outcome of character design?
  2. How can these technologies change the way character design is approached and the user experience? How might they create more innovative and immersive character designs?
  3. How can artificial intelligence and deep learning play a role in character design? How might they provide more creativity and create deeper characters?
  4. future directions in the field of character design, such as the use of user-generated content and motion capture and physical simulation. What are your thoughts? How will they drive innovation and development in character design?

Week 7: About FMP thesis

This week, according to the thesis topic I want to describe, I searched for references in UAL Library and Google Scholar.

I am mainly looking for articles on 3D character design, and how to more accurately express the character characteristics I want to reflect when creating characters. Therefore, I am still looking for helpful evidence and references for my thesis

Week 6: About FMP thesis

Abstract

3D character design is an important technology in computer graphics. It includes modeling, texturing, animation, rendering and blending techniques. The process of 3D character design includes requirements analysis, character creation, texturing, model animation, rendering, and final blending. First of all, the character designer needs to analyze the needs of the characters in the work, and design a character that meets the characteristics of the story according to the requirements of the story and the scene. Then, based on the shape of the character, the modeler needs to use 3D software to create a character model, and then the texture artist will apply the texture to the character model, so that the character model will have a more realistic appearance. Next, the animator creates animations for the character, adding movement to the character to make the character more realistic. Finally, the renderer will mix the character model and animation together to create a complete character with a variety of textures and details. Therefore, 3D character design is a complex technique that requires a combination of techniques to accomplish.

Week 5:About FMP Thesis

This week I’ve identified a few things, and I’d like to start with the following: 3D character design is a very complex job,

1. Pay attention to the appearance of the character: in particular, the character’s facial expression, body composition and clothing;

2. Focus on the action of the role: design the action to interpret the character of the role, so that the role has more personality;

3. Focus on the background of the character: When designing the background of the character, we should consider the history, career, family background and other information of the character, so as to provide rich content for the character;

4. Consider the function of the character: According to the theme of the game and the function of the character, you can design a more reasonable character;

5. Focus on the performance of the role: the performance of the role should be close to the character of the role, and pay attention to the fluidity of the movement, so that the performance is more realistic.

Week 4: About FMP thesis

The theme I want to study is the character part in 3D animation production. Since I am in charge of the character production part this time, I have a lot of new understandings. In the character production, the audience understands the role and the Angle observed by the producer is different, so I want to discuss this point about the character characteristics through the paper

So I found some papers and books that I could refer to by searching.

1.Baran, I., & Popović, J. (2007). Automatic rigging and animation of 3d characters. ACM Transactions on graphics (TOG)26(3), 72-es.

Week 3: On the choice of topic and the direction of the thesis

Through the topic selection of last semester, I noticed the problems that happened last time. The topic of the thesis last semester was too broad for me to grasp the topic well, so I will focus on the topic selection and scope of the thesis this time, so that I can better grasp the paper this time

Therefore, I began to think about whether I could focus my thesis on animation characters. Because I was in charge of 3D characters through the cooperation project of the school, I wanted to improve my thesis by starting with the design of characters and the suitable characteristics

Because the shaping of a character is not only the result of production, but also can clearly show the character’s personality traits and so on through the character’s body parts and some decorations
